On the morning of June 15, 2026, the opening ceremony of the Singapore Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Donghai Study Tour was grandly held in Conference Room B303, Jiangxingyuan Building at Shanghai Donghai College (SDC). Mr. Low Hua Chong, delegation leader from Singapore ITE, attended the ceremony with 10 students. Yue Baohua, Director of the Student Affairs Office; Zuo Tiantian, Dean of the School of Media; Ji Chunlei, Dean of the School of Information Engineering; Bai Ting, faculty of the School of Media; Liu Yichen from the Office of International Exchange; and SDC’s students who will depart for their study tour in Singapore this summer were all present to witness this important milestone in China-Singapore vocational education cooperation. The ceremony was hosted byLiu Yichen.
This study tour is a key outcome of SDC’s deepened cooperation with Singaporean vocational institutions. It aims to build an international exchange platform for teachers and students from vocational colleges of both countries, promote mutual learning in professional talent development, and facilitate multicultural integration.
At the ceremony, Yue Baohua delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the college. She recalled her visit to Singapore ITE with SDC’s leadership in 2025, noting that the ethos and distinctive educational strengths of the local faculty and students had left a deep impression, and that this study tour is a tangible outcome of the deepened bilateral cooperation. She shared that the first cohort of SDC’s students who joined the Singapore study tour in September 2025 achieved fruitful results and delivered outstanding performances in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions at all levels after returning. This September, SDC will send a second cohort of students to Singapore for exchange, to further advance the two-way study tour initiative in both depth and substance. Director Yue expressed her hope that Singaporean participants would broaden their professional horizons, experience Chinese culture and the diverse, integrated urban charm of Shanghai in an immersive way during the 10-day program, serve as youth envoys of China-Singapore friendship, inject vitality into bilateral vocational education exchanges, and wished the program a complete success.
Low Hua Chong delivered remarks on behalf of the study tour delegation, extending sincere gratitude to SDC for its meticulous preparation and warm hospitality, and gave a brief overview of ITE’s educational operations.Afterwards,Yue Baohua delivered closing remarks and officially declared the program open. She noted that while vocational institutions around the world have their own distinctive approaches to talent cultivation, China and Singapore share highly aligned core educational goals: both are committed to equipping students with the ability to create their own futures. Citing the well-known motto “Study hard and make progress every day”, she encouraged all participants to cherish this exchange opportunity, gain knowledge and foster friendship. Following the ceremony, all attending guests, teachers and student representatives took a group photo together.
The Institute of Technical Education (ITE) is a public vocational education institution directly under the Ministry of Education of Singapore, and a core component of the country’s vocational education system. The 10-day study tour has established a three-dimensional study system integrating specialized coursework, enterprise site visits and cultural immersion. Academic courses focus on cutting-edge areas of the digital industry, covering core modules including Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Data Collection and Annotation and AIGC Production. Enterprise visits span multiple sectors including artificial intelligence, game development and unmanned aerial vehicle applications. The cultural experience component balances historical heritage and modern urban charm, featuring interactive activities such as intangible cultural heritage Song brocade handicraft experience and a get-together for Chinese and Singaporean teachers and students, as well as visits to iconic Shanghai landmarks including Yu Garden, the Bund, Qibao Ancient Town and Shanghai Film Museum. The program integrates professional competence improvement with in-depth cultural experience, delivering a comprehensive and immersive study experience for Singaporean teachers and students.
SDC has long upheld the educational philosophy of application-orientation, industry alignment and internationalization, and continues to expand the breadth and depth of international educational cooperation.
