To advance educational delivery, talent cultivation and research development, strengthen the faculty team, improve innovation mechanisms and promote connotation building, Shanghai Donghai College (SDC), through multiple channels in line with the deployment of its 15th Five-Year Development Plan, selects and engages outstanding foreign professors, experts and scholars from home and abroad.These overseas academics will be integrated into SDC’s education system by delivering specialized courses, developing research projects and giving academic lectures at SDC and its constituent schools, further deepening Sino-foreign inter-university cooperation and exchanges.
Recently, with official approval from the College, the first cohort of professors from German universities have been formally appointed as Distinguished Professors of Shanghai Donghai College. They are:
Dr. Philipp Nenninger: Professor and Doctor of Engineering, Program Leader for the Bachelor’s Program in Electronic and Information Technology, Head of the Automation Technology Laboratory, and Director of the Institute for Energy Efficient Mobility (IEEM), Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences;
Dr. Walter Marcus Strand: Professor, Head of the Department of Computer Science, Director of the Robotics and Human Motion Lab (RaHM-Lab), and Academic Director of Master’s Programs, Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg (DHBW) Karlsruhe;
Dr. Oktay Bilgi: Professor at Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences, member of the German Society for Educational Science, and member of the Theoretical Working Group of the Society’s Early Childhood Education Committee;
Dr. Alexander Friedrich Auch: Professor and Doctor of Science, Head of IT Services for Applied Informatics Programs, and Director of the Competence Center for Manufacturing and Information Management, DHBW Mosbach.
During the working visit to Germany in June 2026, Vice President Yan Yukang, on behalf of SDC, personally presented the Distinguished Professor appointment certificates to Prof. Philipp Nenninger, Prof. Walter Marcus Strand and Prof. Oktay Bilgi. He also entrusted Mr. David Guo, program coordinator at DHBW, to deliver the appointment certificate to Prof. Alexander Friedrich Auch. （Correspondent: Liu Yichen）
